Wow, I have fallen way behind on my blog posts! I blame this in large part on the hacks that took over my blog back in November, causing me to lose my most recent blog post and precious time during my busy season. It was touch and go for several weeks, and at one point it looked like I might lose everything and have to start from scratch. Thanks to my amazing husband, who is my in-house tech support (much to his chagrin), I lost very little…but unfortunately then I was out of the habit of posting regularly, and now here we are. I am going to try to get back in the habit of posting my sessions regularly, because I have so many beautiful images that need to be shared with you. Thank you so much for patiently waiting for me!
Phoenix Pilates | Trophy Club Portrait Photographer
When a friend asked if she could book a session of various pilates poses for her business marketing materials, I was a little hesitant because this certainly is not my specialty or even something I offer. I agreed, but only if I did it as a favor…and I told her to remember me the next time she needs a portrait photographer.
I met Candace at her home studio last week, and spent some time shooting while she worked out. Here are the results.
Things I Love (and things I don’t)
Today I wanted to be in two places at one time, but since there is only one of me I had to choose between children and the youngest won (this time). This brings me to another installment of…
Things I Love
1. Spending weekdays with my Reagan. Whatever will I do when she goes off to school and leaves me like her big sister did?
2. The Trophy Club Organic co-op. This past Saturday was our first pick-up, and I am loving the fresh organic produce!
3. Trophy Club Families, the local group for moms and children under 6. I have met so many wonderful moms through this group, and Reagan loves her playgroup friends!
Things I Don’t (love)
1. That I can’t be in two places at one time, which today meant I had to miss Finley’s field trip in order to make it to Reagan’s Egg Hunt and Extravaganza put on by TCF (see Things I Love #3)
2. How quickly our weekends pass. It is only Friday night, and already I am dreading Sunday evening.
3. How everyone else seems to have already booked their kids entire summer, and I have barely gotten started. You people are making me feel like I am behind, and it is stressing me out. Swim lessons (and anything else we want to do) had better not be fully booked before the summer actually gets here. For real.
That’s it for now, have a great week!

My sweet friend Natalie makes the prettiest custom cookies, and recently she asked me to take a few pictures for her facebook page so she can show potential clients samples of her work. I was more than happy to oblige, but only if she paid me in cookies. For real. I may or may not have eaten cookies for breakfast, lunch and dinner that day. I know what you are thinking, and no…I do not have a cookie problem.
Here are a few of my favorites from that day:
and this last one was a test cookie for Reagan’s 3rd birthday in a couple weeks…I love it!

It seems a little weird to be posting pictures of us playing in the snow in April, but I am still working on editing my personal pictures from February so anyway…it is what it is. These are from one of the last good snow days we had this year, the day we went sledding…on the lid of our recycling bin.
I decided to mix in a few black and white photographs this time, lately I have been stuck on color. Let me tell ya, it is hard to get a proper exposure when the ground is covered with snow…forgive me!
It would appear that Brandon fell shortly after this particular take-off

This was after the girls first run down the bigger slope…Reagan was not too sure about that one!

and finally…the better of the two snowmen we made this year.

*No one was hurt in the photographing of these images, although I did have to jump out of the way a few times to avoid being hit at the bottom of the slope. Hazard of the job.
Things I Love (and things I don’t)
I have been wanting to start a series of posts like this for awhile, but was stuck on what my title should be. There are other bloggers that do similar posts and I don’t want to be a copy-cat, so this is what I came up with. Welcome to the first installment of…
Things I Love
1. The way my almost-three-year old says words, like Cinderrarra instead of Cinderella and outtide instead of outside. I will miss those words when they are gone.
2. Electricity (and the Internet), because being without it is an inconvenience. I know I take it for granted, but I am so thankful we don’t live in the days when people survived without electricity (and the Internet).
3. Thunderstorms. The low rumble, the flash of lightning, the cool breeze that smells of rain, and the rain itself. Enough said.
Things I Don’t (love)
1. Wasps. They scare me. They make me run around waving my arms frantically and screaming like a girl, and acting like a complete fool. It doesn’t matter who is present to witness this ridiculous scene…my reaction is the same.
2. A certain cable company who I will not name that has made the art of good customer service a mockery at best, and generally made our lives miserable since we found out they were the only one available for our address.
3. Owners that allow their dog to poop in my yard and then don’t clean up after it. I am on the verge of putting up a “No Pooping Allowed” sign, either that or sitting behind the bushes watching with an air horn ready to blast their socks off when I catch them.
That’s it for now, have a great week!
The Joy of Love: Day 4 – What They Wear
Day 4 the assignment in the Joy of Love online course was What They Wear. Both my girls love jewelry and dress-up things, and these pictures show what I might see them wearing on any given day. Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what these girls will wear! Their love of clothes, shoes, accessories…basically all things fashion related started so young. I don’t remember caring about clothes or any of that until I was a teenager!
The silly band craze…we finally caved and then they multiplied like little rabbits!

The Joy of Love: Day 3 – Then and Now
The third assignment in The Joy of Love online course was to photograph someone you love, and show the difference in them between “then and now”. “Then” is relative…it could be one year ago, five years ago, ten years ago, etc.
My interpretation of “then and now” is my two beautiful little girls, each holding a picture of themselves as a baby. They have grown so fast it makes my heart hurt…
To My Surprise
I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw these on my computer screen, they were taken on my Nikon CoolPix S570 that I got for Mother’s Day last year. It has been one of the most disappointing purchases we have made in a long time, I rarely get anything decent out of that camera. The only explanation I have been able to come up with is that this room had such amazing light pouring in from the wall of windows that were behind me, oh if only I could have that little room for my studio! I had to apologize to the little camera that lives in my purse for moments such as these, it had redeemed itself…just a little.

When we got a fresh dusting of snow several weeks ago, and we had our second snow day off from school and work, we were out playing in it and Brandon said he was going to make snow ice cream. Snow ice cream? I had never heard of it, but his Papaw made it for him and his sisters when they were kids. I offered to get out the ice cream maker, but apparently you don’t need one to make snow ice cream. Brandon looked up a recipe online, and in no time had whipped up a batch of vanilla snow ice cream…no extra charge for the few stray blades of grass. The snow ice-cream was COLD, like eating a snow cone, and a little too vanilla-y for my taste but it will be a wonderful memory and the girls loved it.
